ABOUT DREAMS 2 REALITY

Dreams 2 Reality is a non-profit, community-based foundation. It was birthed from the emotional realizations of a 22-year-old Auburn Graduate student.

In June 2019, the CEO, Malcolm Askew, completed his internship at a Youth Development Center in Lee County, AL. It changed his life. He quickly realized everyone did not grow up in the same environment as he, and sometimes, there were not two parents in the households (if any parent at all), and there may not have been any love, support, or encouragement given. So, he decided, when given the opportunity, he wanted to help at-risk kids discover their abilities and talents; while teaching discipline, hard work, commitment, and sacrifice to achieve their goals.

Since none of the kids he worked with had gone to college, visited a college, or ever been told they could attend college, Malcolm decided to start a scholarship fund. Well, he discovered he could not do it with his left-over scholarship funds alone. So, soliciting help to raise the money seemed more realistic. However, “I may need to reach these kids long before graduation (if they graduate),” he said. It was then, his focus started to include not only giving scholarships but providing the tools needed to help one possibly receive a college scholarship, such as tutoring, mentoring leadership skills, and character building. We are currently awarding a $1,000 college scholarship to any senior planning to attend college in the Fall of 2023. You must attend a Jefferson County, Birmingham, or Bessemer City School.
